Version 2026-07-28.v6
Terms of Service
Effective date: 7 July 2026 Applies to: She Chooses mobile app, website, and every She Chooses-branded live event
These Terms are a binding legal agreement between you and Chetan Amin, sole proprietor, doing business as "She Chooses" ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading the app, creating an account, or attending a Swayamvar event, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Community & Event Conduct Guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use She Chooses.
1. Who we are and what She Chooses is
She Chooses is a curated, invite-only, live-event matchmaking service. The events themselves are called Swayamvars — small, curated evenings where invited women choose their partner in person. You register in the app, undergo an identity-verification call with our team, are invited to a specific live event, and meet other invited people face-to-face at that event.
We operate as an intermediary under Section 2(1)(w) of the Information Technology Act 2000 and comply with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021.
Business identity: Chetan Amin (sole proprietor). Registered office: A-1402, Pushp Vinod 1, S.V. Road, Opp. Tirumala, Borivali (West), Mumbai 400092, Maharashtra, India. PAN and, once applicable, GSTIN and Udyam registration number are available on written request to the Grievance Officer.
She Chooses is:
- A live-event platform for people looking to meet a compatible partner in person
- An intermediary that facilitates verification, invitations, compatibility scoring, and matching
- A curator of the pool at each event
She Chooses is not:
- A dating app. There is no chat, no DM, no in-app messaging of any kind at any stage between any users. This is the deliberate product design, not a missing feature.
- A guarantee of a match, a relationship, or a favourable outcome.
- A background-verification service. Our verification checks identity and screens for obvious red flags (fake profiles, impersonation, safety concerns) but is not a criminal, financial, or medical background check.
- An engagement or marriage broker. Matches at events are described as "partners for the evening" — nothing more is implied.
2. Eligibility
To register or attend an event you must:
- Be at least 18 years old on the date of registration
- Provide accurate information about yourself
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act 1872
- Not be a person barred by any Indian court order from using dating, matrimonial or matchmaking services
- Consent to our Privacy Policy, these Terms, and our Community & Event Conduct Guidelines
We may refuse or terminate your account at any time, without refund and without stating detailed reasons, if we believe you do not meet these criteria or if you violate these Terms or our Conduct Guidelines.
Gender. She Chooses' current event format is gendered (women pick from a pool of men). We collect and store gender as a required onboarding field. See Privacy Policy §13 for more on this.
3. Your account and identity
- Sign-in is by mobile phone plus a one-time password (OTP). We do not store any password. Keep your phone secure — anyone with access to your phone can access your account.
- One account per person. Multiple accounts are grounds for immediate termination.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of everything in your profile. Material misrepresentation (fake photos, false age, hidden marital status, undisclosed history that would materially affect another user's decision to meet you) is grounds for immediate termination and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement.
- You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data after deletion.
- We do not have a "temporarily hide profile" or "pause account" feature in the current version — the choices are active or deleted.
4. Verification and admin discretion
Every account goes through:
- Face-photo liveness check (blink detection) at upload
- A short video verification call with our team
We may reject or suspend any account at our sole discretion, including but not limited to:
- Suspected fake profile or use of another person's photo
- Video-call impressions of coercion or safety risk
- Credible external reports of abusive behaviour on other platforms
- Failure to appear for a scheduled verification call after 3 attempts
Rejections are notified in-app. We are not obligated to disclose detailed reasons. If you believe a rejection was in error, raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (§18). No refund is due if we reject you before an invitation is issued (as no attendance fee has been collected).
5. Events
- Event details — venue, date, per-couple F&B minimum, attendance capacity — are set by us and communicated in the app when you receive an invitation.
- Invitations are personal and non-transferable. You may not give or sell your invitation to anyone else. Doing so results in immediate account termination and forfeiture of your fee.
- We do not postpone events. The venue deposit is non-recoverable, so reliability is enforced upstream (invitation list is set well in advance).
- We may cancel an event for reasons outside our control (venue withdrawal, force majeure, insufficient RSVPs, safety issue). If we cancel, we refund your attendance fee in full within 14 business days.
- No refunds for user cancellations. If you are invited, pay the fee, and then don't attend, the fee is forfeited. This is because the event cost — venue, food-and-beverage minimum, staff — is committed on your behalf when you confirm payment.
- We may reasonably relocate an event within the same city (e.g., last-minute venue swap due to venue emergency) with as much notice as possible; this does not entitle you to a refund unless the change makes the event impossible for you to attend, in which case we will refund on a case-by-case basis.
6. Payment
- Payment for event attendance is made via UPI transfer to the UPI ID stated in your event invitation. The UPI ID for each event is communicated within the invitation itself.
- Our team confirms payment manually, usually within a few hours of receipt. Only invitations marked "PAID" in the app are considered confirmed for attendance.
- We do not store your UPI ID, VPA, or bank details. Payment happens entirely outside the app.
- Prices and any per-couple F&B minimum are stated in the app before you pay. Attending an event constitutes acceptance of the amount.
- Tax invoice. If you require a tax invoice for the attendance fee, email us within 30 days of the event; we will issue one under the sole-proprietor's PAN. GST is currently not applicable as we operate below the ₹20 lakh turnover threshold; once GST registration becomes applicable, tax invoices will include GST and this Policy will be updated accordingly.
- Refunds (only when we cancel — see §5) are made to the same UPI ID from which the payment was received. We do not refund to a different account.
7. What happens at an event
- Physical activities: curated ice-breaker and interaction rounds are run by our team.
- No in-app interaction during the event — the app is used only for the on-site pick-3 and the match reveal.
- Names. In-app, women never see men's names (only face + per-event candidate number). Names are exchanged in person at the dinner table, at each participant's discretion.
- Contact details (phone numbers, social handles) are exchanged at each participant's discretion, in person, after the reveal. We do not facilitate or record this exchange. We do not accept responsibility for any post-event contact between attendees.
- Photography and video. We photograph and video the event only if you granted the specific consent toggles for these. You may not photograph or record other attendees without their explicit permission — see the Community & Event Conduct Guidelines for the detailed rules.
8. Post-event
- Feedback is mandatory and per-individual — you submit it via the app after the event. Aggregate metrics inform our matching engine and event operations.
- We do not "match again" after an event. If you did not match at an event, you can be invited to future events; you are not entitled to a specific number of future invitations.
- Post-event interaction between matched partners is entirely your own concern. We do not monitor, mediate, or intervene, except in response to a formal grievance raised by an involved party.
9. What you may not do
You may not use She Chooses (in-app, at events, or in any communication with us or other users) to:
- Post, share, or say anything unlawful, obscene, threatening, defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, invasive of privacy, or otherwise harmful under Indian law
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use fake photos or the photos of someone else
- Harass, stalk, coerce, or bully another user, our team, or a venue employee
- Solicit money, gifts, or other consideration from another user before, during, or after an event
- Extract another user's identity, contact information, or private data by any means — including screenshots, screen recordings, coordinated inference, offering incentives to third parties, or social engineering
- Attempt to circumvent our verification, matching, safety, or payment measures
- Use the service, or your presence at an event, for commercial promotion of yourself, your business, or any product or service
- Use bots, scripts, scrapers, or any automated interaction with our servers or our team
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source of our apps, servers, or matching engine
- Distribute, share, or transmit She Chooses' copyrighted content (bio questions, screen designs, marketing material) without our written permission
Violation of any of the above is grounds for immediate termination without refund and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement.
10. Content you upload — licence to us
You retain ownership of everything you upload (photos, bio answers).
You grant She Chooses a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and process that content solely for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy — showing your profile to matched users, computing compatibility, running events safely, and (only if you granted Toggle 4) using it in marketing.
The Toggle-4 marketing licence is revocable at any time from Settings → Consents. On revocation we will:
- Not use your content in any new marketing material
- Remove your content from active marketing surfaces we control (our website, our social channels, our reels) within 30 days of the revocation
- Not attempt to recall physical material already distributed to third parties (printed flyers, DVDs, TV footage that has already aired)
11. She Chooses' intellectual property
The She Chooses name and logo, together with the Swayamvar event format, screen designs, bio question set, matching engine, and all documentation are our intellectual property. You may not copy, reuse, adapt, or create derivative works based on them without our prior written permission.
12. Disclaimers
She Chooses is provided "as is" and "as available".
We do not warrant that:
- You will find a compatible match
- Other users are who they represent themselves to be, notwithstanding our verification process (no verification is foolproof)
- The service or the app will be uninterrupted, secure against every possible attack, or free from bugs
- A particular event will run exactly as advertised in every respect (last-minute venue changes, force majeure, and similar do occur)
You use She Chooses and attend events at your own risk. Please use your own judgement in every interaction with another attendee before, during, and after an event. If someone at an event makes you feel unsafe, tell a member of our team immediately.
13. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law:
- Our total aggregate liability to you, for any and all claims arising out of or in any way connected with She Chooses (the app, an event, our conduct, or the conduct of another user), is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (or ₹5,000 if you paid us nothing in that period)
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of opportunity, emotional distress, or reputational harm — except to the extent this exclusion is prohibited by Indian consumer protection law
- We are not liable for the conduct of other attendees before, during, or after any event, except to the extent that we have failed to reasonably respond to a formal grievance raised with our Grievance Officer
Nothing in this section excludes:
- Liability that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act 2019
- Liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct on our part
- Liability for death or personal injury caused by our proven negligence
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or damages (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your breach of these Terms or our Conduct Guidelines
- Your violation of any law or the rights of a third party
- Any content you upload or share
- Your conduct at an event
15. Termination
By you. You may stop using She Chooses at any time. To delete your account and your data, use Settings → Delete Account.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, and with or without refund, if:
- You breach these Terms or our Conduct Guidelines
- We reasonably suspect fraud, misrepresentation, or abuse
- We are required to by court order or law enforcement request
- We discontinue the She Chooses service (in which case we will, where practicable, provide reasonable notice and refund any prepaid but unattended event fees)
Termination does not extinguish any obligation you owe us (for example under §14 indemnity) that has already arisen.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do:
- The effective date at the top of this document changes
- The internal version tag increments
- Any material change (payment terms, conduct rules, liability, refund policy) triggers a re-acceptance prompt in the app on your next open — you will be shown the new text and asked to confirm before continuing to use She Chooses
- Non-material changes (typo fixes) do not trigger a re-prompt
Your continued use of She Chooses after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you don't accept, delete your account before the effective date.
17. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
- Any dispute arising out of or in any way connected with these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through direct discussion with our Grievance Officer.
- If that fails, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra.
- Consumer disputes may also be filed with the relevant Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission under the Consumer Protection Act 2019.
18. Grievance Officer
Chetan Amin Email: support@shechooses.app
- Acknowledgement of grievance: within 24 hours (IT Rules 2021 Rule 3(2)(b))
- Resolution of standard grievances: within 15 days (IT Rules 2021 Rule 3(2)(b))
- Impersonation / non-consensual sexual imagery / deepfake complaints: within 24 hours (IT Rules 2021 Rule 3(2)(b) proviso)
19. Force majeure
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemic, government action, riots, strikes, terrorism, war, venue emergency, power failure, or Internet outages. If a force-majeure event prevents an event from taking place, we will refund attendance fees under §5.
20. Language
These Terms are written in English. If we release a Hindi or Marathi translation, the English version remains the authoritative reference in case of conflict. On written request to the Grievance Officer we will provide a summary of these Terms in Hindi or Marathi.
