Version 2026-07-28.v5
Community & Event Conduct Guidelines
Effective date: 1 July 2026 Applies to: everyone using She Chooses — in the app, at events, and in any communication with our team or other attendees
She Chooses creates a space where people can meet potential partners in a curated, respectful, in-person setting. That only works if everyone shows up with the same intent — to meet others honestly and to treat them with dignity. These Guidelines describe what that means in practice, and what happens if the norms are broken.
By signing up or attending an event you agree to these Guidelines. Violations are grounds for immediate removal from the app and any Swayamvar event, without refund, and — where the behaviour crosses into unlawful conduct — for reporting to law enforcement.
Part A — Values we expect from you
1. Show up honestly
- Your profile — photos, age, city, profession, education, relationship history, whether you have children — should be truthful.
- Your bio answers should be your own considered thoughts, not something someone else wrote for you.
- At an event, present yourself as you actually are. No borrowed identities, no lies about work, no exaggerated status.
2. Assume good faith, and give it
Every other attendee is here for the same reason you are. If a conversation isn't clicking, be polite; if you're not interested, be gracious; if someone makes a small social misstep, extend the benefit of the doubt.
3. Consent is continuous
Just because someone agreed to a conversation, an activity, or a dinner, doesn't mean they've agreed to anything else. Read the room. Ask before you touch. Take "no", "maybe later", and silence all as "no". Never pressure anyone to share a phone number, social handle, home address, or plans after the event.
4. Discretion matters
Anything you learn about another attendee — their identity, their story, their photo — stays private. Don't repeat it outside the event. Don't post it online. Don't reveal it to friends or family in ways that could identify the person.
5. Respect the format
She Chooses has deliberate design choices — no chat, no photos of other attendees, no reveal of names in the app, no ranking of your picks. These aren't arbitrary. Don't try to work around them.
Part B — Specific rules
Some behaviours are always off-limits. This list is not exhaustive — anything that would be reasonably considered harassment, coercion, or a safety risk to another attendee is also a violation, whether or not it appears below.
6. In the app
- No fake profiles. Photos must be of you, taken within the last 2 years, and clearly show your face without heavy filters, sunglasses, or occlusion.
- No misrepresentation of age, marital status, or the existence of children.
- No commercial use of the app. Do not use She Chooses to promote a business, recruit for a service, or solicit contacts for anything other than a potential relationship.
- No sharing of your account. Only you should use your She Chooses account.
- No attempt to infer other users' identities through indirect means (e.g., cross-referencing bio details with public social media to find a specific person's real name).
- No scraping or automated interaction with the app or our servers.
- No screenshotting or screen-recording of other users' profiles for any purpose other than a personal, private memory jog before the event. Do not save, forward, or share screenshots or recordings.
7. Before an event
- Payment is per person, non-transferable. Do not pay for someone else's attendance or give away your slot.
- RSVP truthfully. If you know you can't attend, tell us before the payment deadline so we can offer the slot to someone else.
- Do not attempt to identify or contact other invitees before the event based on the limited profile information you have seen.
8. At the event
Optional participation & assumption of risk
- Every activity is optional. The blind scent round, the dance rounds, seated conversations, the shared meal — participation in any of them is entirely at your discretion. You may sit out any round without explanation and without any impact on the rest of your evening or on She Chooses' matching for you.
- You attend at your own risk. She Chooses and its team, hosts, contractors and vendors are not responsible for accidents, injuries (including slip-and-fall or dance-round contact), allergic reactions (including to food, drink, scents used in the scent round, floral décor, or fabric), pre-existing medical conditions, adverse reactions to alcohol served at the venue, loss or damage to personal belongings, or any other unforeseen incidents at the venue.
- Flag your restrictions in advance. If you have severe allergies, mobility limitations, medical conditions, or anything else our team should know before the evening, contact us at support@shechooses.app well ahead of the event so we can plan around them. We will do what we reasonably can — but the final responsibility for your safety and well-being at the venue rests with you.
- In an emergency, tell our on-site team immediately, dial 100 (police) or 112 (single emergency number) as appropriate, and seek medical attention. We will support the response but cannot substitute for it.
Respect and safety
- Treat every attendee, our team, and the venue staff with respect. Ordinary politeness — greetings, thank-yous, personal space — is the baseline.
- Do not touch another attendee without their clear invitation. This includes handshakes if they signalled they don't want one.
- Do not corner, follow, or persistently seek out an attendee who has stepped away from a conversation.
- Do not comment on any attendee's body, appearance, or attire in ways that could be perceived as sexualising or judgmental.
- Do not raise your voice, make threats, or behave in a physically intimidating way at any point.
Photography and video
- Do not photograph or video any other attendee, their belongings, or anything that could identify them, at any point during the event.
- Do not photograph or video our team or the venue staff without permission.
- Do not photograph or video the event's activities or physical setup in a way that could be re-shared to identify individuals.
- If our official photographer is at the event, the images they take are covered by Toggle 2/3 consents and are handled per our Privacy Policy. You have no photography permission of your own by virtue of being an attendee.
Substances
- Alcohol may be served subject to venue policy — drink moderately if at all. Anyone visibly impaired will be asked to leave without refund.
- No recreational drugs at any Swayamvar event. Zero tolerance. This is grounds for immediate removal and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement.
Solicitation
- Do not ask another attendee for money, gifts, business contacts, favours, employment, or any consideration other than continued conversation and — subject to mutual interest — a potential future connection.
- Do not distribute business cards, promotional flyers, QR codes for anything except your personal social handle (and that only after the reveal, in-person, and only if the other person invites it).
Contact exchange
- Names and contact details are exchanged in person, at each participant's discretion, after the match reveal.
- Do not ask for a phone number, address, or workplace before the reveal.
- Do not press someone who is hesitant to share their contact details.
9. After an event
- Follow-up is at each participant's discretion. If someone has not responded to your message after a reasonable time, do not follow up further. One un-answered message is a preference; three is harassment.
- Do not contact another attendee's family, employer, friends, or social-media accounts other than the specific handle they chose to share with you.
- Do not post about the event in a way that could identify other specific attendees. General reflections ("great evening, met some interesting people") are fine; naming names or posting screenshots of the app is not.
- If you and your match do not develop a connection, let each other move on gracefully.
10. In any communication with our team
- Our team responds to grievances, verification questions, payment queries, and event logistics.
- Be respectful in every message. Aggressive, abusive, or repetitive contact will result in a warning, then account suspension.
- Do not attempt to pressure our team into a specific decision about verification, invitation, matching, or refunds.
- Our team is not a matchmaking counsellor. Post-event emotional support is your responsibility to seek from the right sources.
Part C — When things go wrong
11. If you see or experience something concerning
At the event. Tell a member of the She Chooses team immediately. We prioritise safety over convenience — we would rather pause an activity than let something wrong continue. Our team is trained to handle escalating situations and, where necessary, to involve venue security or law enforcement.
After the event. Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer:
Chetan Amin — support@shechooses.app
- Standard grievances: acknowledged within 24 hours, resolved within 15 days
- Safety-critical grievances (harassment, threats, impersonation, non-consensual imagery, deepfakes): acknowledged and acted upon within 24 hours
Emergency. If there is an immediate threat to your safety, call 100 (police) or 112 (single emergency number). Then tell us as soon as it's safe.
12. How we handle a violation
Depending on severity, we may:
- Warn — a private message from the team, and a note on your account
- Suspend — you cannot use the app or attend events for a defined period
- Terminate — account removed, all data deleted after the standard 30-day grace, banned from future Swayamvar events
- Refund forfeiture — no refund on any current or past event fee (per the Terms of Service)
- Report — where the behaviour is criminal (assault, stalking, non-consensual imagery, coercion, fraud), we report to law enforcement and share requested evidence
We do not owe you detailed reasons for a warning, suspension, or termination — but we do owe you an honest one, and you may request a review from the Grievance Officer.
13. Appeals
If you believe a warning, suspension, or termination was wrong, write to the Grievance Officer with:
- Your account phone number
- What decision you are appealing
- What you believe is wrong about it
- Any evidence you would like considered
We will review within 15 days and reply with a final decision.
Part D — Understanding
14. This is not exhaustive
The rules above cover the situations we can anticipate. If you find yourself asking "is this OK?" — err on the side of not doing it, and ask us. Anything that a reasonable person would consider disrespectful, unsafe, or dishonest is a violation whether or not it appears in a bullet point here.
15. These Guidelines evolve
We may update these Guidelines as we learn from real events. Material changes trigger a re-acceptance prompt in the app; non-material changes (typo fixes) do not. The current effective version is always the one shown at the top of this document.
16. Everything else is in the Terms
For legal terms — payment, liability, IP, jurisdiction — see the Terms of Service. For how we handle your personal data, see the Privacy Policy. These Guidelines sit alongside those two documents and are read together with them.
By using She Chooses you agree to these Guidelines and to be held to the standards described here.
